The advance of the left of Jean-Luc Mélenchon poses

a double threat to Emmanuel Macron

in the legislative elections this Sunday in France.

Not only because the macronist forces could lose the majority in the Assembly and thus complicate the presidential mandate, but because in this election on Sunday there are

many ministers who are risking their position.

When Nicolas Sarkozy was in the Elysee he rescued the slogan that those ministers who do not win the deputy seat in the constituency in which they present themselves must leave the Government.

It is understood that

if they have not obtained the support of the polls they cannot continue.

Macron has also adopted as his own this rule that

puts a few ministers in trouble,

some of them from his closest circle.

Of the 28 that make up a recently appointed cabinet just a month ago, there are 15 who are presenting themselves to these legislative elections in different constituencies.

All passed the test last Sunday, by qualifying in the first round of the legislative elections.

But in this second vote tomorrow, not everyone has it easy, as

there are deputies from the left-wing coalition led by Mélenchon, Nupes, who take advantage of them.

This group includes the prime minister, Élisabeth Borne,

who is running for deputy for Calvados and who would also have to leave her post if she does not get the seat.

She obtained 34% support last Sunday but her rival from Nupes de Ella is hot on her heels, with 24%.

France votes in two rounds, both in the presidential elections, where the president is elected, and in the legislative elections, where the Assembly is designed, which then applies the reforms proposed by the head of state.

In the first round, the candidates who have obtained at least 12.5% of the votes pass.

In the second

wins the one who gets the most votes

.

Key figures of macronism

One of those in danger is

the minister for European Affairs, Clément Beaune

, one of the president's greatest allies.

He was an advisor to Macron for three years and then became Secretary of State, before the ministry.

He belongs to the innermost circle of him.

He is running for the seventh constituency in Paris, but he is ahead of the Nupès candidate, Caroline Mecary, who got 41% support.

Another minister on the tightrope is the Public Function,

Stanislas Guerini

, also one of the allies of macronismo and equally besieged by a Nupes candidate.

And in the same situation is Amélie de Montchalin, from Ecological Transition, slightly behind her rival from the Mélenchon coalition.

Among the candidate ministers there are those who

have the seat, and survival within the Government, more assured

, despite having already starred in some unpleasant controversy in the short time they have been in office.

An example is that of the head of the Interior,

Gérald Darmanin,

at the center of the controversy after the chaotic security device during the Champions League final.

He appears at home, in a constituency where he was mayor and part with an advantage.

Another minister who has been talked about is not in danger either: Damien Abad, accused by several women of sexual assault.

Also, except for surprises, the rest of the government candidates are guaranteed permanence, including Gabriel Attal, former spokesman and now Minister of Public Accounts, or Olivier Véran, the Minister of Parliamentary Relations.
