According to her, the Foreign Ministry drew attention to information in the media about the detention of a Brazilian citizen in the Netherlands, whom Dutch officials called "an employee of the GRU."

The media reported that this citizen, under the guise of an intern, tried to get a job in the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.

The Russian Foreign Ministry called it significant that the incident occurred in early April, and the Dutch authorities decided to report it only three months later.

It is noted that Moscow did not send official notification of this incident.

“Obviously, this informational stuffing is aimed at savoring another spy scandal involving Russia, scaring the public with the “insidious intrigues” of the Russians,” the Foreign Ministry said.

Also, the ministry considers the goal of the stuffing to form the “necessary” political background to draw attention to the attempts made by the International Criminal Court to investigate crimes allegedly committed by Russian military personnel on the territory of Ukraine.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Martijn Elgersma, Chargé d'Affaires of the Netherlands in Russia, had been summoned to the office building.

He was protested because of illegal commercial activities on the territory of the Consulate General.
