“I would also like to note the MIR card payment system, which has successfully replaced Visa and Mastercard in the domestic market, and is now expanding its geography and gaining international recognition step by step,” the Russian leader noted.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak informed that Russia and Turkey had agreed to start accepting the MIR card in Turkish hotels and to increase its use at ATMs.
He also stated that Russia and Iran are discussing the connection of their national payment systems MIR and Shetab (“Shetab”).
