Merkel: My resignation contributed to the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine

Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel said in an interview with the RND media group that her resignation may be one of the reasons for the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine.

"It is possible that my departure contributed to this, such as the elections in France, the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan, or the stalemate in the implementation of the Minsk Agreement," she added.

At the end of February, Merkel condemned the Russian special military operation to disarm Ukraine.

In her words, "there is no justification for this flagrant violation of international law."

According to "RT".

In a conversation with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in April, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the whole problem over Ukraine arose after the coup in Kyiv in 2014.
