A modern expression would be that she engages in "dumpstring", but she herself wants to call herself a "food saver".

She says that the choice to become a food saver came from a coincidence when she discovered how much food was thrown away from all grocery stores.

- This is not unique to Malmö.

Food is thrown everywhere.

I want people to get angry.

This is completely unreasonable, says lifeguard Tatjana Boric-Persson.

Wants municipalities to get involved

Actually, she has neither the time nor the desire to devote herself to this.

For some time now, she has submitted a citizen proposal that briefly states that the municipalities should get involved in the problem, and in the long run she wants it to be a criminal offense to throw away food.

- In France, it is illegal for grocery stores to throw away food, she says.

Something that Tatjana noticed is that very large amounts of bread are thrown away.

And then bread that the shops themselves baked, so-called Bake-off bread.

Discarded before "best before date"

The food she picks from the well-knotted black garbage bags is of a blissful mixture.

Just this evening, there are surprisingly many products that have not yet been released, including a number of large meatball packages.

But given the heat, she leaves them alone.

- If I had known when they were thrown away, I might have taken them.

Now that it is hot in the summer, you do not know, she says.

The morning after SVT Nyheter's visit, a much larger find was made in a completely different store in Malmö.
