“Employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, together with the Border Directorate of the FSB of Russia in the Republic of Crimea, detained a citizen of Ukraine, born in 1991.

It has been established that the detainee, being part of an illegal armed formation on the territory of Ukraine, participated directly in the food blockade and other illegal actions in the border areas, and also personally carried out the armed guards of Lenur Islyamov," TASS reports.

In December 2020, the Supreme Court of Crimea found Islyamov guilty of organizing an energy blockade of the peninsula.

He was sentenced in absentia to 19 years in a strict regime colony.

In November 2015, the supply of electricity from Ukraine to Crimea was completely cut off.

Rolling blackouts were used on the peninsula.

Until May 2016, the state of emergency was in effect due to a shortage of electricity.

The authorities estimated the losses from the energy blockade at billions of rubles.

The head of the republic, Sergei Aksyonov, expressed confidence that the organizers would not be able to escape retribution.
