Al-Jazeera correspondent in the Gaza Strip reported that the occupation forces bombed agricultural land in the town of Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip with a number of missiles, after the fall of an Israeli observation balloon permanently located over the Beit Hanoun-Erez crossing in northern Gaza. after his fall.

These developments come hours after the people of Jenin (northern West Bank) buried the bodies of 3 young men who were shot dead by the occupation forces in an ambush they set up during their storming of the city, and after confrontations erupted in Nablus that injured dozens of Palestinians.

Israeli military sources said that the observation balloon that fell in northern Gaza was not shot down by the Palestinian resistance, while local sources indicated that members of the resistance took control of the balloon after it fell.

In a brief statement, the Israeli army stated that "the Defense Army's reconnaissance balloon broke down today and fell inside the Gaza Strip. There is no fear of a tangible leak of information. The circumstances of the accident will be investigated. It is a normal situation on the home front."

Palestinians in Gaza had shared a video on social networks showing the remains of a balloon lying on agricultural land.

The Israeli army uses many of these airships, which are equipped with surveillance cameras, to monitor the border areas with the Strip.

Eyewitnesses said that an Israeli drone fired a missile at a border agricultural area near the place where the balloon fell, but no injuries were reported.

Witnesses also reported that shooting was heard in that area, coinciding with the overflight of Israeli drones.

Earlier today, Palestinian media published scenes from the farewell moments of the three Palestinians who were martyred in Jenin, and the scenes show Palestinian citizens in the hospital to which these young men were taken.

The Palestinian presidency saw that the execution of these three was an Israeli response to American demands to stop the escalation, before US President Joe Biden's visit to the region.

For its part, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) confirmed that the assassination will not pass without reckoning, stressing that the Palestinian people and their resistance know how to strike the enemy.

As for the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah), the occupying army and government bore the repercussions of the assassination in Jenin.

confrontations

In Nablus (in the northern West Bank), Palestinian media reported earlier that 5 civilians were wounded by rubber bullets, and 15 others suffocated during confrontations with the occupation in the village of Burin, south of Nablus.

The confrontations erupted when the occupation forces suppressed a popular anti-settlement event, and attacked the Palestinians and the foreign solidarity participants participating in it.

In another context, the Israeli army intends to conduct shooting exercises in Palestinian communities threatened with deportation in the southern West Bank.

"The residents of 7 villages in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, received a message from the army: Next week, from Monday to Wednesday, the army will train in your area," the left-wing Israeli NGO "Breaking the Silence" said in a tweet on Twitter.

"No specific hours, location or any other information has been specified. One fact: armed soldiers will fire live ammunition near their homes and farms," the organization added.

The Israeli army usually evacuates residents temporarily from their homes for training periods, according to Israeli human rights organizations, including B'Tselem.

The decision provoked condemning reactions among the Israeli left, including the government's partner, Meretz.
