An all-female Danish choir sang to former US President Barack Obama in Danish "Born in Denmark", similar to the song "Born in America" sung by his supporters when his archenemy, former President Donald Trump, claimed that Obama was not born in America, and therefore he is not entitled to run for president.
Obama had arrived in Copenhagen to attend the Copenhagen Democracy Summit in 2022 when he heard the sounds of wonderful music, coming from the balcony opposite his suite at the Dangler Hotel, and there was a choir rehearsing on that balcony.
The inquisitive ex-president called them and asked them what they were doing. The girls answered, "We sing."
Obama then asked the choir to sing for him and the girls immediately sang to him that song, delighting the former president and giving the girls an unforgettable moment.
Obama waved to them, "Wonderful, that was very exhilarating."
The choir consists of nine women in their early twenties, all of whom are classically trained singers who describe themselves as a "lyrical community".
One of the choir members wrote on “Instagram”: “Today our rehearsals started unexpectedly and completely surprisingly.
We're singing, we answered, and he said, Oh, can I hear you?
And we laughed and thought maybe he was just joking and wasn't really interested.
Then one group started singing (He was born in Denmark) and the rest of the groups joined in, forming a surprising and impromptu song for the (very dazzling) former Illinois senator.
Then he asked us how we were doing before he got in his car and drove away.”
