CNN quoted a U.S. official as saying that the U.S. government is expected to announce an additional $1 billion in military aid to Ukraine on June 15, local time.

The new aid is expected to include the transport of additional howitzers, ammunition and coastal defense systems to Ukraine.

In addition to the rapid delivery of weapons and supplies from existing U.S. stocks, the United States will also identify new contracts for long-term supplies to Ukraine.

Speaking at a NATO meeting in Brussels, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said the United States and Ukraine are working together to meet Ukraine's demands for new capabilities, particularly for long-range firepower, armor and coastal defense.
