He had driven, alcoholic and under the influence of drugs, the company vehicle of his companion at the time, then prefect.

A policeman was sentenced on Tuesday by the court of Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine) to six months in prison, suspended.

This 46-year-old agent from the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI) was arrested on November 17, 2020 after crossing the Hauts-de-Seine department, in the west of Paris, causing several accidents between the towns of Neuilly and Rueil-Malmaison.

His blood alcohol level was 1.92 grams per liter of blood.

Beer and whiskey had been found in his vehicle, from the park of the prefecture of Eure-et-Loir.

Cannabis and cocaine

The prefect at the time, who was then his companion, had lent him this vehicle for personal travel, he explained.

Cannabis and cocaine were also found in his body.

At the helm, the defendant denied any consumption of narcotics, stating that he had simply consumed drugs and CBD.

After having presented his apologies and evoked family problems which had upset him, he declared himself "bruised by this situation which has taken on a great deal of magnitude".

Indicating to be depressed and followed by a psychiatrist, he said he was awaiting disciplinary action.

The court nevertheless sentenced him to a six-month suspended prison sentence, a road safety awareness course and an eight-month license suspension for driving while intoxicated and under the influence of narcotics and endangerment.

The prefect of Eure-et-Loir left office shortly after the incident.
