In his decree made public this afternoon, the prefect Mor Talla Tine invokes two reasons: "

 threats of disturbing public order

 ", and "

violation of article L61 of the Electoral Code

 ", an article which "

 prohibits any propaganda in

disguise

" during the 30 days preceding the official opening of the campaign.

The political climate is tense before the legislative elections scheduled for July 31.

Yewwi Askan Wi contests the invalidation by the Constitutional Council

of its national list

led by Ousmane Sonko, mayor of Ziguinchor, following an error in the preparation of this list.

A first demonstration on June 8 in Dakar had been authorized by the prefecture on the Place de la Nation and had brought together several thousand people, but this time, therefore, it did not pass.

Regarding the rejection of the list led by Ousmane Sonko: "

The law is tough, but it's the law,

 " said

President Macky Sall on RFI

on June 9.
