International flights to and from Tunisia will be canceled tomorrow, Thursday

A union official told Reuters today, Wednesday, that all international flights to and from Tunisia will be canceled tomorrow, Thursday, due to a general strike called by the General Union of Employment in Public Companies in protest against the government's economic and social policies.

The union had called a general strike after a government decision to freeze wages as part of an unpopular reform package aimed at reaching an agreement with the International Monetary Fund on a $4 billion loan.

"All international and domestic flights will also stop, starting at zero tonight," said Wajih al-Zaidi, general secretary of the Transport University of the Labor Union. "The strike will include all cruises as well."
