According to him, carsharing is a manifestation of progress that does not need to be fought.

However, it is possible and necessary to take steps towards increasing the security of car-sharing services for both users and other citizens.

“I ask you to consider the initiative regarding the mandatory equipping of carsharing cars with internal and external video recording systems (video recorders) and alcolocks,” Krupnik said in a statement.

He stressed that the presence of video recording systems will help to avoid controversial situations when analyzing possible accidents and other incidents, as well as to stop the practice of damage to the internal elements of rental cars by unscrupulous users.

“The introduction of an alcohol lock system that prevents the use of a car while intoxicated will minimize the likelihood that a drunk and inadequate driver will get behind the wheel of a car sharing, representing a serious danger on the road,” the deputy of the Legislative Assembly added.

At the same time, he noted that the simultaneous introduction of such innovations can lead to an abrupt increase in the cost of using the service.

“Therefore, I ask you to consider the possibility of phased equipping of the rental car fleet within one or two years,” the deputy emphasized.

Earlier, State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov also proposed installing alcohol locks in carsharing cars in order to avoid traffic accidents involving such cars.
