Anna Broström's son Joar Mikaelsson became a homemaker in year four, and then burned out when he struggled to get back to school in year five.

Today, Joar is 15 years old and still a homemaker, although much has improved for him.

Wrote citizen proposals to the municipality

Last winter, Anna Broström wrote a citizen proposal to Luleå municipality where she calls for the municipality to strive for a zero vision when it comes to children and young people with NPF diagnoses who are burned out at school.

Hear her tell more about the citizen proposal in the video above.

The proposal was rejected

However, the City Council chose to reject the citizen proposal.

Tomas Hansson, department manager for the Resource Center in Luleå municipality, was the one who investigated the proposal.

- We think it is good that these issues are raised in the debate.

But these issues are already regulated in the Education Act and it will be difficult to go in and work according to a citizen proposal when we already have a regulation, he says.
