The church school was built as early as 1893 and means a lot of nostalgia for several Jämjö residents - especially a day like this when it is the last school graduation.

Meya Holgersson in second grade had her whole family with her at the end and everyone has gone to the same school, even grandmother Siv Gustavsson.

- This school has been a long time, it's a bit nostalgic.

It feels boring now, she says.

Moves to new premises

Jändelskolan is currently being expanded to become the new Jämjö knowledge center, for children from preschool class to year 9. After the summer, the activities in Jämjö church school will therefore move up to the new premises.

- It is exciting with new challenges, we are the first to start at the new school, says principal Agneta Everbrand.

What will become of the church school in the future is not yet completely clear, but the idea is that the old school premises will remain.

There have been proposals to build homes in the area.
