According to an engineer at Google, one of the company's artificial intelligence (AI) has developed an awareness of its own existence.

The AI is said to consider itself a person and says it can express emotions and reflect on life.

Google rejects the information and says that the AI is not to be considered "conscious" and has also laid off the developer.

Daniel Gillblad is responsible for research and strategy at AI Sweden, Sweden's national center for artificial intelligence.

He explains that it is one thing to, like the allegedly "conscious" AI model LaMDA, in its context give the appearance of reflection and emotion - but something completely different to classify AI as an individual.

- That it should have a consciousness and be aware of itself, it is not.

I think we can be pretty sure of that.

At the same time, he is positive that the subject is being discussed.

- I think it is useful for the future.

It allows us to educate ourselves in what this type of method can and cannot do, so we do not let ourselves be fooled unnecessarily, he says.
