• Since 1948 the Olympic Days have been celebrated.

On this occasion, the City of Paris is organizing a summer “in Olympic form”.

  • The festival, which lasts from June 22 until mid-September, combines arts and sport in the values of Olympism.

  • The event is also a step towards the 2024 games. It is an opportunity for Pierre Rabadan to show the progress towards the purification of the Seine.

Two experiences of the Olympic days in the pocket (2017 and 2019) and a two-year countdown to the Olympic Games, the stars have aligned over Paris for the city to deliver a show worthy of the event .

June 23 was chosen in reference to June 23, 1894, the date on which Pierre de Coubertin obtained the renovation of the Olympic Games at the Sorbonne.

Olympic days have commemorated this event since 1948.

Move, learn, discover

This June 23, 2022 is a stopover on the road from Paris to the Olympic Games.

Since the announcement in 2017, the French capital has organized two Olympic days whose experiments bring the future host city closer to its objectives.

We remember in 2017 the famous athletics track on the Seine, or the urban sports park, place de la Concorde in 2019. "This third edition should exceed both in its scale and in its nature the two previous ones", promises Carine Rolland, assistant to the culture of the City of Paris.

“A summer in Olympic forms

whose idea is to combine art, sport and Olympic values.

Move, learn, discover.

The Olympic days are based on these three pillars.

These terms also have meaning when it comes to understanding the arts.

Carine Rolland shows this desire to open up two audiences – those of sport and the arts – who are often unaware of each other, to the values of Olympism.

To do this, the Carreau du Temple piloted a call for projects.

On this call, 65 programs were selected.

It is from Wednesday, June 22 that they will take place to allow the youngest to participate.

They will then run until mid-September.

Among the events organized, a cultural hike on June 23 by the Carnavalet museum, a great sports karaoke from June 29 to July 1 by Fnac Live or a marathon-concert at the beginning of September by the Concert de la Loge.

In all, 800.

000 euros are mobilized by the City of Paris to finance the project leaders.

CAF also contributes 70,000 euros.

A healthy Seine for experienced swimmers

For Pierre Rabadan, sports assistant, the announcement of these days was also an opportunity to mention the progress of work towards the purification of the Seine.

On June 25 at 10 a.m., “weather permitting”, by canoe, canoe or kayak, Parisians will be able to attend a high-level swimming relay in the Seine.

“Yesterday, the quality of the water in the Seine was excellent”, assures Pierre Rabadan before adding that if the arm of Marie where the swimmers should compete is swimmable, it is the consistency which poses a problem.

The real effects of the sanitation works should be observed in the summer of 2023. “We have succeeded in bringing Parisians back to the banks of the Seine, now the challenge is to get them to dive there”.
