At the health center in Arvidsjaur, where about 40 people normally work, only half are on duty after the weekend's covid outbreak.

- At present, 20 of the staff are ill and the majority are covid-positive.

The rest we are waiting for test results, says unit manager Therese Gustafsson.

Who have fallen ill?

- These are all professional categories.

There are both doctors, nurses, assistant nurses, administrative staff and staff from the rehab unit.

We have three patients in our ward and they are still healthy, says Gustafsson.

Infectious varieties abound

Region Norrbotten's infection control doctor Anders Nystedt tells SVT that there is a lot of covid-19 in circulation in the county and the country right now.

- The variants that spin in Norrbotten are very contagious and there is easily a large spread, he says and adds that it was also quite a long time ago that the care staff took their dose 3.

"Go to work with symptoms"

No one currently knows what has caused the large outbreak at the health center in Arvidsjaur, but Nystedt says that it is not uncommon for a large number of people to have picked up the infection, but with few or no symptoms, even if one person has tested positive.

- This underlines the importance of not going to work with symptoms, says infection control doctor Anders Nystedt.

In the clip, the unit manager Therese Gustafsson talks about how to try to make the business work.
