Two police officers from the Rouen police station (Seine-Maritime) managed to subdue a 54-year-old woman on Friday, who threatened them with a knife before trying to turn the weapon against her, reports 76 Actu.

She had come to pick up her minor son arrested for a crime.

When she had just walked through the door of the reception around 9 p.m., the 50-year-old drew "a kitchen knife from her pocket and threatened the police officer present" on the spot, said a judicial source.

Alerted by the noise, a second official then intervened.

No injuries

She then turned the knife against her belly threatening to commit suicide, maintaining that she could no longer take this situation with her child.

One of the police officers, however, managed to disarm her as she was about to take action.

The emergency services then intervened to transport her to the hospital.

The mother of the family was not injured and her son, who was not present in the room at the time of the events, did not attend the scene.
