The Kronoberg region has tried to solve the staffing situation by moving staff between departments, but there have not been sufficient measures.

The Kronoberg region needs to coordinate resources at the county's emergency departments for a few weeks this summer, writes Florence Eddyson Hägg, hospital manager, in a press release.

This means that patients, after assessment at the emergency department in Ljungby, may need to seek care in Växjö.

Ljungby will invest in the seriously ill

The idea is that seriously ill patients will be treated in Ljungby, but that other patients may be referred to the emergency department in Växjö, the emergency medical center in Växjö or self-care via 1177.

- Some nurses from the emergency room in Ljungby will work their shifts in Växjö instead.

In Växjö, we have the opportunity to expand the premises and receive a larger number of patients, writes Florence Eddyson Hägg.

In addition to this, the Emergency Medical Center in Ljungby will also close temporarily.

It also has a large shortage of nurses and therefore needs to be kept closed on weekends during weeks 25-33.

During that period, patients are referred to the emergency medical center in Växjö.
