A 32-year-old man was arrested and placed in police custody in Villeneuve-de-la-Rivière, near Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales), Thursday June 9.

He is suspected of having robbed the business premises of a house under construction the night before, reports

Several tools, including an electric saw and a paint gun, had been stolen.

A debt of money

The suspect was apprehended after being spotted by the victim.

The latter was walking her dog near her home when she saw him in possession of the tools that had been stolen during the burglary.

Alerted, the gendarmerie went to the scene and the respondent would then have recognized the facts.

During his hearing, the man reportedly explained that he acted because he was in debt.

Unknown until then to the gendarmerie services, he will soon be brought before the courts on prior admission of guilt.
