China News Service, Beijing, June 13 (Reporter Huang Yuqin) Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin hosted a regular press conference on the 13th.

A reporter asked: According to reports, US Defense Secretary Austin recently delivered a speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue, saying that China is more coercive and offensive in terms of territorial claims in the East China Sea and the South China Sea, and the risk in the Taiwan Strait is particularly prominent.

At the same time, he said that the position of the United States in adhering to the one-China policy has not changed.

What is China's comment?

Wang Wenbin: The Chinese delegation at the meeting has responded to Secretary Austin's remarks.

What I want to stress is that the US has repeatedly spread false information to smear China, which will only further expose the US's sinister intentions to sow right and wrong and the true face of its hegemonic power.

The biggest threat to peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait is not from elsewhere, but from the "Taiwan independence" forces stubbornly pursuing separatist activities and the connivance and support of the United States.

It is the United States that has hollowed out the one-China principle and kept backsliding from its own commitments. It is the United States that has relaxed the constraints of official exchanges between the United States and Taiwan and improved the scale and performance of arms sales to Taiwan. It has helped Taiwan expand the so-called "international space" and even jumped to Taiwan. It was the United States that helped Taiwan "Gubang".

What the US has done is not sending wrong signals to the "Taiwan independence" forces, undermining mutual trust between China and the US, and impacting peace across the Taiwan Strait.

The United States is also the biggest driver of militarization in the Asia-Pacific region.

The United States has regularly deployed a large number of military aircraft and warships in the South China Sea, and has even frequently used other countries' civil aviation aircraft identification codes.

According to statistics from professional institutions, the number of US military reconnaissance of approaching China has more than doubled compared to a decade ago.

Since the beginning of this year, U.S. warships have crossed the Taiwan Strait once a month on average, and U.S. aircraft have carried out large-scale and high-frequency close-in reconnaissance, provocation and deterrence against China.

When it comes to "militarization" and jeopardizing "freedom of navigation", the United States is the one who has the hat.

The US's smearing remarks against China will not deceive the international community, but will only reduce the US's own credibility.

We urge the US to be consistent with its words and deeds, implement its statement of not seeking confrontation and conflict, a "new Cold War", not seeking to build an "Asian version of NATO" or creating hostile camps in the region, and stop its words and deeds that create divisions and incite confrontation.
