Two adult men and an adult woman were pronounced dead at the scene, and all three suffered at least one gunshot wound.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a male suspect and female victim had engaged in a domestic dispute in the parking lot area and that a man who was not involved in the dispute tried to intervene, police said.
The suspect fired at least one shot at the man and at the woman with whom he had a dispute.
The suspect was found dead at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The motive for the shooting is currently under investigation.
San Jose is an important city in the San Francisco Bay Area and the center of Silicon Valley, with a population of about 1 million.
According to San Jose police, 16 people have died in homicides in the city this year.
