The crayfish in the Skellefteå River have died 50 km upstream of the plague, to the height of Boliden.

The dead crayfish can for the most part no longer be seen in the river but have become hull targets for fish and birds.

It is still unclear how large the spread is in the river.

Therefore, the municipality DNA tests the river's water.

They start where the infection is detected and then work 30 km downstream.

- We are now doing tests on a number of points along the river, says Mattias Varg.

The results from the tests are expected to be ready next week.

In the clip, you see the municipality's biologist collecting water for DNA tests and telling about the infection.
