The airport management then alerted the police, who blocked the entrance to the terminal.

During the roadblock, car traffic was diverted to other terminals.

- For fire protection reasons, the airport management did not want more car traffic to the terminal, says press spokesperson Per Fahlström at the Stockholm Police.

"Many want to check in"

David Karlsson at Swedavia's press office says that there were a lot of passengers at terminal 5 in the morning.

- There are many who want to check in at the same time, and there are many who want to pass the security check, says David Karlsson at Swedavia's press office to Ekot.

Could not staff up

According to David Karlsson, the congestion and queues are due to the fact that travel by air has increased rapidly after the pandemic, and that Swedavia and other players at Arlanda have not been able to staff up at the pace that had been required.

The roadblocks were lifted at 7.30.

Terminal 5 is Arlanda's largest terminal.
