Extending the strategic partnership in government modernization between the UAE and Uzbekistan for three years

The government of the United Arab Emirates and the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan inaugurated a new phase of joint global cooperation, within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two countries in government modernization, where the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding that included extending the partnership for three years, expanding its horizons to include 10 vital areas for modernizing government work, and enhancing benefiting from government experiences. The distinguished program, within the government knowledge exchange program launched by the UAE government.

Shavkat Mirzaev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, received Muhammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, and the delegation of the UAE government, in the Uzbek capital Tashkent, during which they reviewed the achievements of the strategic partnership in government modernization, and discussed future prospects for its development to include various areas related to government work.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Muhammad Abdullah Al Gergawi and Sardar Omar Zakov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in a step aimed at extending the strategic partnership agreement in government modernization that was launched in April 2019, which reflects the distinguished bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.

Under the memorandum of understanding, the areas and horizons of strategic partnership in government modernization between the government of the UAE and the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan were expanded, and its work was extended for a period of 3 years. The areas and axes of partnership included smart applications, government services, government accelerators, capacity building, strategy, national plan, and government performance Government quality, business incubators, competitiveness and statistics, tourism, economy, industry, doing business, smart and safe city, programming “One Million Uzbek Coders Initiative”, civil service, insurance, future foresight, airport management and free zones, education, tax management, relations Public and media, the financial sector, customs, and young leaders.

The areas of cooperation in the strategic partnership agreement in government modernization were updated to include the financial sector, the education sector, the economy, government leadership, food security and agriculture, ports and customs.

The extension of the strategic partnership in government modernization and expansion of its fields reflects the distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries, and builds on the success of the partnership launched in April 2019, with the aim of developing institutional capabilities and enhancing their efficiency in the process of improving governance by benefiting from the best experiences and advanced government models developed by the UAE government.

The strategic partnership in government development between the UAE and Uzbekistan, over a period of 3 years, has achieved great success and outstanding results, within 27 axes.

It is worth noting that the government of the UAE and the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed in April 2019 an agreement for strategic partnership in government modernization, which includes launching joint initiatives and projects, benefiting from the experience of the UAE government, in a step that is an extension of the strong and growing relations between the two friendly countries.
