(Fighting against New Coronary Pneumonia) Zhong Nanshan: The immunization effect of sequential vaccination with heterogeneous vaccines is significantly improved

China News Agency, Guangzhou, June 10th (Wang Hua Huang Shuyue) The 3-day 14th China Bio-Industry Conference (referred to as the Bio-Conference) kicked off on the 10th in Guangzhou International Bio Island.

Zhong Nanshan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, proposed at the meeting that sequential vaccination with heterogeneous vaccines can significantly improve the immune effect.

Zhong Nanshan said that China adheres to the general policy of "dynamic clearing", and the key is to do three points: the epidemic must be prevented, the economy must be stabilized, and development must be safe.

According to Zhong Nanshan, as of now, there are 38 new coronavirus vaccines approved by WHO for clinical application in the world, which can be divided into 5 categories: inactivated vaccines, adenovirus vector vaccines, subunit protein vaccines, mRNA vaccines, and virus-like particles (VLPs) vaccine.

Zhong Nanshan said that the new crown vaccines currently on the market in the world are not enough to effectively prevent Omicron (Omicron) infection, and those who break through the infection have a high viral load and strong infectivity.

He suggested that sequential vaccination (referring to interval vaccination or alternate vaccination of vaccines with different technical routes) can be used to achieve the goal of "not only reducing the severe rate and mortality rate but also reducing the infection rate" proposed by China's "Dynamic Zero" policy. ".

He said, "Xenogeneic vaccine plus immunity (subunit protein vaccine/adenovirus vector vaccine/mRNA vaccine is added to the two doses of inactivated vaccine), the immune effect is significantly improved."

Zhong Nanshan revealed that the third injection he took was the (domestic) Zhifei recombinant protein new crown vaccine; in terms of treatment, China has developed 3CLpro inhibitors, siRNA (short interfering RNA), traditional Chinese medicine monomers, and antibody therapy.

Zhong Nanshan believes that in the face of the epidemic, scientific management, scientific prevention, and scientific treatment must be done.

Among them, Guangzhou provided valuable management experience in responding to the two waves of Omicron epidemic in April this year: normalized nucleic acid detection, divided into "three areas" (sealed control area, control area, prevention area) for grid management, and Using the (health code) "yellow code" to identify key groups, "according to these three plans, the prevention and control of the Omikron epidemic will be faster and have less impact."

This bio-industry conference is co-sponsored by 18 national societies and associations in conjunction with the Guangdong Provincial Government and undertaken by the Guangzhou Municipal Government. It is the largest, highest-level and most influential industry event in China's bio-industry field.
