This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the methodological recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor on the organization of anti-epidemic measures in medical organizations in case of suspected monkeypox.

“Vaccination against smallpox is expected to provide protection against human infection with monkeypox,” the document says.

At the same time, it is noted that vaccination of the population or risk groups against smallpox is not currently provided for in Russia.

Rospotrebnadzor also recommended strengthening measures to identify individuals with possible symptoms of monkeypox arriving from epidemically disadvantaged countries.

According to the agency, no cases of monkeypox have been identified in Russia.

Immunologist, Candidate of Medical Sciences Zoya Skorpileva, in an interview with URA.RU, told what is the difference between monkeypox and chickenpox.
