During Maundy Thursday, riots broke out in Linköping in connection with the right-wing extremist Stram kurs and its front figure Rasmus Paludan arranging a demonstration with Koran burning in the Skäggetorp district.

Three police officers were taken to hospital and several police vehicles were vandalized.

The riots were the starting shot for a series of violent riots in several Swedish cities.

Reported to staff

Now, many of the intervention police who participated in the operation direct scathing criticism at their own management and have reported both the staff and the command management for misconduct, writes DN.

According to the report, the intervention police officers who worked during the day during Maundy Thursday were ordered to stay in overtime to go to Skäggetorp, where a masked mob had begun to take shape.

They were also ordered to travel all the way to the so-called SPT group - police officers who are specially trained to deal with crowds - to cover their backs, the newspaper writes.

Once there, they did their best to ward off people who threw stones, even though they did not have the same education, but were eventually ordered to leave "and save what can be saved."

This in turn led to several police cars being vandalized and a vehicle set on fire, according to the report.

Previous registration

The Police Authority has previously reported itself to the department for special investigations to find out if there may have been deficiencies in the police's work that constitute crime.

That notification concerns four different categories: personal equipment, vehicles, methods and organization / management.
