For his last trip before the first round of the legislative elections, Emmanuel Macron held an offensive speech in the Tarn on Thursday against the extremes, represented by Jean-Luc Mélenchon on the left and Marine Le Pen on the right.

A risky speech, a few days before the first round.

TO ANALYSE

Emmanuel Macron goes on the offensive in the home stretch of the legislative elections.

The Head of State was visiting the Tarn on Thursday to invest in the theme of daily security.

But for his last trip before the first round, the President of the Republic above all held a real campaign speech, targeting without naming him Jean-Luc Mélenchon for his remarks on the police.

"There are things that, from where I am, I cannot accept, it is that we insult those who risk their lives to protect ours", he launches first.

In search of the useful vote on the right and on the left

After having demonized the leader of the Insoumis, Emmanuel Macron attacked Marine Le Pen.

The president is therefore targeting the other two blocks facing him.

"The extremes propose today to add crisis to the crisis by going back to the great historical choices of our nation", affirms the head of state, who hopes to get a useful vote in his favor from the left and right voters.

"If the election of the President of the Republic is crucial, the election of deputies is decisive", he underlines, before adding: "The balances which will emerge in the National Assembly also depend on the fate of the France and the daily lives of everyone."

Countering the dynamics of the Nupes

Emmanuel Macron delivers an offensive speech in the final hours of the campaign.

He knows that it is now that it is played.

"Coherence, competence and confidence rather than posture, casualness and adventure, this is the first issue in my eyes for June 12 to come", day of the first round of the legislative elections.

With this offensive speech, there is the risk of giving the impression of panicking at the last moment, when recent polls indicate a dynamic for the Nupes, the left alliance.
