“The investigative unit of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the city of Sochi initiated a criminal case against the driver of the Mitsubishi Fuso Fighter on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art.
264 of the Criminal Code of Russia (“Violation of the rules of the road and the operation of vehicles”),” the statement says.
According to preliminary data, a 64-year-old truck driver in the tunnel drove into a lane intended for oncoming traffic and hit a concrete bump stop, then the truck collided with a tour bus, after which the bus was thrown onto a gazelle moving in the same direction.
“According to updated police data, 15 bus passengers applied for medical assistance as a result of an accident, there are no children among them,” the department noted.
Earlier, the prosecutor's office of the Krasnodar Territory reported that 20 people were injured as a result of an accident involving a truck and a tour bus in Sochi.
