Sulaymaniyah

- The young Iraqi artist Yassin Abdul Rahman (27 years) has created a different path from his peers in the world of painting, by drawing three-dimensional paintings bearing a human character on walls, floors, roads and public places, making him the first imprint in introducing this type of drawing to his city. Rania District, Sulaymaniyah Governorate, Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

realistic optical illusions

Abdel Rahman's paintings bear different creative touches from the works of his peers;

His style is close to realism mixed with optical tricks rather than drawing, as it combines details, shadows, composition and perspective, so you have to touch the painting with your hands sometimes to make sure that it is just a painting and not as real as it appears to you when you look at it.

In addition to the creativity in his works, the human nature of the paintings of the Iraqi young man - who obtained a bachelor's degree in Sharia from the College of Islamic Sciences from the University of Sulaymaniyah in 2016 - was not lost on his paintings, which are full of life, awareness, peace and health preservation, which became the focus of the eyes of pedestrians on the main public roads.

Abdul Rahman does not limit his paintings to the angle of drawing only, as he tries to present a message of human dimensions. In one of his paintings, for example, he motivates smokers to replace the cigarette with a toothbrush, to warn of the harmful effects of smoking on health and the benefits of the brush.

The year 2013 witnessed the first steps of the young artist in the world of painting when he became involved in an artistic group that includes young amateurs, but the absence of financial support paralyzed the group, and later dissolved it, but Yassin decided not to give up and remove all the rocks of difficulties from his path with his painting brush, so he started painting here and there, and he comes With newness and creativity, and what is artistically exciting in any work he accomplishes, he has his audience and his name in his city, while continuing to complete his university studies.

The place before the idea

At the beginning of any artistic work, the young man chooses the place first, and then defines the idea, and then implements it on the ground through drawing, and always tries to transmit educational, awareness and humanitarian messages through his works, by staying away from negative manifestations that destroy society such as smoking hookah and cigarettes and using Weapons, not reading, playing sports, etc.

Yassin usually chooses prominent places, such as main roads, universities, and public parks, to be the center of his three-dimensional paintings. However, the most important turning point in his short career is that he was able to draw a library inside a women's prison to support reading and to motivate the use of time in a positive and useful manner.

The Iraqi young man found in art the best way and the shortest way to show the positive face of things to people. He wants to say that the pen is better than the weapon. The second kills lives, but the pen increases knowledge and science, and transforms man from a marginal being into a producer.

The absence of financial support gets the young man from time to time in bumps that delay his artistic achievements a lot, and he aspires to get out of the local to the Arab and international with projects that have not yet seen the light. Only the small part of it.

Following the routine procedures in order to obtain approvals to draw a painting in a public place by submitting a request and a detailed explanation of the idea and content of the work to the concerned authorities. The implementation is more complicated for the young artist, as the idea of making a work of art in a public place was rejected due to the lack of understanding the artistic and creative dimension of the work presented by The person concerned accepted to agree to it, Yassin told Al Jazeera Net.

The cost of implementing some paintings reaches about 1500 dollars, but in other times the cost does not exceed 20 dollars, and this depends on the nature of the materials used and the size of the paintings, and he usually spends his own money to provide the supplies.

 out of the ordinary

Yassin's talent represents a new step in the world of drawing 3D paintings, and he was able to be credited with introducing this art to the Rania district, according to writer and journalist Malband Ghazi, who says that this young man brought something out of the ordinary for his city.

Ghazi (who is the owner of a local station in the district of Rania) confirms to Al Jazeera Net the need for Yassin to receive full material and moral support to get out of the local space into Arab and international and support him to participate in international exhibitions because he carries many distinguished ideas and works.

As for activist Sherwan Abdoul, he believes that the paintings of the young artist do not differ from the job of any educational guide;

The first addresses and educates people through his paintings and art, and the second through his lectures and knowledge.

In his speech to Al Jazeera Net, the civil activist warns against losing and wasting the talent of the young artist in the event that the concerned authorities do not pay attention to him, as he is still in the prime of his life, lost between finding a livelihood for his family, developing his art and ambition, continuity and reaching the world.
