Japan's Fukushima nuclear power plant investigation robot malfunctions again or gets stuck by unknown object

Overseas Network, June 10. According to a report by Japan's Fukushima TV station on the 10th, the robot that was detecting the internal situation of Unit 1 of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant failed again.

Japan's Tokyo Electric Power Company said the malfunction was an underwater robot that inspected the inside of the reactor containment of Unit 1 of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

The robot has been using ultrasonic waves to measure the thickness of the deposits inside the containment since June 7, but on the 9th, the robot stopped moving during the investigation near the entrance.

It is speculated that the robot's cable may be stuck by an unknown object, and the reason is unknown.

Tokyo Electric Power Company said it will start investigating the cause on the 11th and discuss matters such as recycling.

Fukushima TV previously reported that the robot malfunctioned while investigating the internal conditions of Unit 1 underwater in March this year, interrupting the investigation.

The Xinhua News Agency reported that since the serious nuclear leakage accident at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in 2011, the Japanese government and TEPCO have taken insufficient measures to deal with the nuclear accident and have many loopholes.
