3 dead, 1 injured in shooting in Maryland, USA
Three people were killed and another person was injured, Thursday, in a shooting incident at a manufacturing facility in Smithsburg, Maryland, near Washington, DC.
According to a report published by "NBC Washington", a policeman was injured during an exchange of fire with the suspect.
No information was available to the authorities about the identity of the victims, whether they were employees of the industrial facility or not.
Shortly after the shooting, 5 miles from the factory, a shootout occurred between the suspect and a policeman on Mapleville Road, the report quoted Washington police as saying, in which they sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital.
A spokeswoman for the Washington sheriff's office, Carly Howes, said the suspect was a man, without revealing his name, age, or any information about the weapon he had.
Hawes said the investigation is ongoing, and Washington County Police and Maryland State Police are continuing their investigations.
