As the agency explains, the court noted the November decision of the Moscow City Court, by which Zuev was transferred from house arrest to a pre-trial detention center.

“To satisfy the petition of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Tatyana) Moskalkova and the complaint of lawyers Sevruk, Kravchenko and Kozhura, to cancel the appeal of November 9 against Sergey Ivanovich Zuev, to send it for a new consideration in a different composition of the court,” the judge said.

In October, the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow sent Zuev under house arrest, but the prosecutor's office filed a motion against this decision, considering the chosen preventive measure too lenient.

After that, on November 9, the Moscow City Court transferred the man into custody.

Zuev is accused of embezzling more than 21 million rubles.

According to investigators, in 2018, together with ex-deputy minister of education Marina Rakova and former deputy general director of the Foundation for New Forms of Education Development Yevgeny Zak, he conspired to steal money from the RANEPA.

The Federal Penitentiary Service in Moscow reported that Zuev was under the constant supervision of medical workers.
