In the government's budget, half a million pensioners receive a guarantee supplement of SEK 1,000 a month.

The right-wing opposition gives a lower increase but goes to more pensioners. 

There are no oceans between the parties' proposals, but despite this it is very difficult to agree on a compromise.

According to Mats Knutson, there are several reasons behind this.

- There are different views on how the pension should be raised, but also that we are approaching an election and then it is more difficult to agree on political issues.
