The Frenchwoman Renelle Lamote, second in 1:58.48, took the opportunity to take a big step towards the Eugene Worlds (July 15-24) by passing for the first time under the minimum required by her federation (1:59.30).

Athing Mu, a new phenomenon of the double lap, was making its real comeback over the distance after a "warm-up" at the end of April, and after having had to give up the Eugene meeting at the end of May because of the Covid-19.

The day after her 20th birthday, she led the way to easily win.

"I'm delighted with this result. I just wanted to see where I was, I'm super happy with this time," said the American.

Lamote was able to take advantage of this extraordinary pacemaker to secure a fine second place and achieve her timing objective for the Eugene Worlds.

"I'm really happy. I had concentrated a lot on the preparation. I'm proud of myself to finish second in these not easy conditions, it was rather cool", commented the Frenchwoman, who is now planning on Oslo (June 16 ).
