A military parade of female soldiers in swimwear and high boots ends with a Colombian investigation

A video of Colombian female soldiers walking in the rain, in swimwear, knee-high boots and military hats, has sparked controversy among the military's top brass.

The women models, who had just finished their military service, were part of a ceremony held by the Ayacucho Troupe in Manizales, in the center of the Colombian capital.

The celebration was criticized for the female soldiers' dress, on social media, and commentators considered the dress of female soldiers "improper", according to the La Presse website.

The leadership of the Fifth Division, to which the female soldiers belong, indicated in a statement following the spread of those photos and videos, that "the event came within the framework of the visit of young men who perform military service, with their families."

Military leaders said the theme of the parade was "the evolution of clothing between the past and the present".

However, the command said that the Colombian army had set up a commission "in order to verify the facts and actions carried out by the unit, to which the female soldiers belong," adding that "administrative or disciplinary measures may be taken."
