On June 8, 2022 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended the third "China + Five Central Asian Countries" Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Nur-Sultan.

After the meeting, Wang Yi and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Treuberdi of Kazakhstan jointly met the press.

  Wang Yi said that the most important task of this meeting is to implement the consensus reached at the video summit marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the five Central Asian countries.

The meeting also passed the Joint Statement of the "China + Five Central Asian Countries" Foreign Ministers' Meeting, the Roadmap for Implementing the Consensus of the Video Summit between China and the Five Central Asian Countries, and the Initiative on Deepening the Connectivity and Cooperation of "China + Five Central Asian Countries" ” and the four outcome documents of the “China + Five Central Asian Countries” Data Security Cooperation Initiative.

  Wang Yi summarized the ten-point consensus reached at the meeting:

  First, upholding the principles of mutual respect, good-neighborliness and friendship, solidarity, mutual benefit and win-win results, we are committed to building an independent, peaceful, prosperous and cooperative Central Asia.

  The second is to continue the high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road", expand all-round cooperation, explore ways to promote financial cooperation, and further expand the scale of local currency settlement.

  The third is to deepen connectivity and cooperation, ensure the safe and stable operation of China-Europe freight trains, facilitate customs clearance, improve the "green channel" for goods, speed up the resumption of flights, and ensure the integrity of the industrial chain and the continuous supply chain.

  The fourth is to coordinate the maintenance of security in traditional and non-traditional fields, and work together to combat the "three evil forces" to ensure food security.

  Fifth, continue to unite to fight the epidemic, actively carry out vaccine and drug research and development cooperation, establish a China-Central Asia health industry alliance, and set up a Chinese traditional medicine center in Central Asia.

  Sixth, coordinate positions on the situation in Afghanistan in a timely manner, promote the peaceful reconstruction of Afghanistan, support Uzbekistan in hosting the 4th Afghan-Neighboring Foreign Ministers' Meeting and the High-level International Conference on Afghan Issues, and maintain regional security and stability.

  Seventh, deepen cooperation in education, science and technology, art, sports, tourism, poverty reduction and other fields, and promote the work of "one country, one workshop" and mutual establishment of cultural centers.

  Eighth, promote green and sustainable development, share environmental protection experience and technology, and jointly build a beautiful home where man and nature coexist in harmony.

  Ninth, continue to support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests, jointly implement global security initiatives and global development initiatives, and contribute to global governance.

  Tenth, continue to improve the "China + Five Central Asian Countries" cooperation mechanism, actively carry out exchanges and dialogues in political parties, economy and trade, investment, local governments, think tanks and other fields, so as to fully unleash the potential of cooperation among the six countries.

  Wang Yi stressed that China will, guided by the consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and the five Central Asian heads of state, continue to deepen political mutual trust and mutually beneficial cooperation with Central Asian partners, and work together to build a closer China-Central Asia community of shared destiny.
