Common violations detected by Dubai Police for "scooter" drivers

The Acting Director of the General Department of Traffic in Dubai Police, Colonel Juma bin Suwaidan, said that the most prominent violations of driving an electric scooter, according to Dubai Police monitoring, is the non-compliance of the cyclist or passenger to wear the required jacket and helmet, walk in the opposite direction, and load passengers on it without being equipped with the designated equipment. Therefore, using it without obtaining a driving permit from the Roads and Transport Authority, using it in the sanctuary of the road designated for vehicles, or parking it in places other than those designated for that, or in a way that poses a danger to road users, or towing it while traveling by a vehicle, or using it to transport objects.

 On the sidelines of a campaign launched by the Federal Traffic Council to raise awareness of the safe driving of electric bicycles, he pointed out that two deaths were recorded during the past year and 19 people were injured in electric scooters accidents, and two deaths were recorded this year and 10 injuries, pointing out that the majority of accidents were collisions with vehicles. .

He explained that the campaign lasts for 45 days and mainly targets motorists, vehicles and pedestrians to avoid being run over.
