The Cabinet of Ministers of Latvia approved the transition to teaching in schools in the Latvian language for three years

This is stated in the statement of the Latvian Cabinet. 

“Today, June 7, 2022, the Cabinet of Ministers approved amendments to the law on education and the law on general education,” TASS reports.

The amendments provide for a transition within a three-year period to teaching exclusively in the Latvian language in the schools of the republic.

Earlier, Latvia banned the broadcasting of all Russian TV channels.

The decision to block the broadcast of about 80 TV channels will come into force on June 9.
