Difficult and protracted decontamination after the tanker accident on E18

It was at 06 o'clock on Saturday morning that the tanker overturned on the E18 at the height of Väsemotet.

The accident occurred after the tanker driver, according to the rescue service, got a deer in front of the front while a car was driving again.

Extensive emissions

The tanker truck started leaking after it overturned and it is estimated that more than 15,000 liters of petrol and diesel leaked out.

- We could absorb the corresponding amount but then it was mixed with water so we need to investigate how much is left in the ground and where it goes, says Morgan Palmquist at the rescue service.

Near water source

Just a couple of kilometers from the accident site there is a water source, in addition to the proximity to both Lake Vänern and individual wells.

- We do not assess that they are threatened at the moment, says Morgan Palmquist.
