"The U.S. Embassy Skopje Public Relations Department is announcing an open call for media projects for non-profits and non-governmental organizations aimed at strengthening the media by improving the professionalism of journalists and reducing the negative impact of disinformation," the document states.

The beneficiaries will organize trainings for young media representatives from North Macedonia.

Classes must be held face-to-face with the participation of experts from the republic, region or the United States.

As noted in the grant description, contractors need to focus on increasing the availability of “independent” news content, developing skills to identify “misinformation”, as well as familiarizing project participants with “digital security” and related tools.

The program budget should not exceed $110,000, the document says.

Non-profit organizations operating in North Macedonia or the United States are eligible to apply for funding.

In January, US plans to fund projects aimed at "developing media literacy" and "fighting propaganda" in North Macedonia were reported.

For the relevant purposes, the American side intended to allocate no more than $435,000.
