CAIRO -

Journalists close to the Egyptian authorities warned citizens of the difficult economic situation during the coming period, and demanded to prepare for a new wave of price hikes. They also called on the government to intervene to postpone the expected increases during the coming period on a number of goods and services.

Contrary to what Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly did - on more than one occasion - to reassure Egyptians about the economic situation;

Media professionals asked citizens not to listen to the government's assurances, stressing that the next is more difficult.

Some of them called on the Egyptian government to postpone the expected increase in electricity prices in conjunction with the beginning of the next fiscal year.

Next is more difficult

In this context, journalist Amr Adib, close to the authority, denounced, during his presentation of his program "The Story" last Friday night on the Saudi-owned MBC Egypt channel, the Egyptian Prime Minister's statements in which he reassured citizens that the state would bear a large percentage of inflation.

Adeeb called on the government not to reassure the citizen, stressing that Egypt is the only country in the world that reassures its people, when in reality the situation is difficult and the next is even more difficult, adding, "The world is not enough for sixty niles...there is a high price tag and stagnation with them."

Adeeb pointed out that the current crisis is suffering from major countries and international companies, so what about Egypt?

According to him.

The street is boiling

Media and parliamentarian Mustafa Bakri - famous for his closeness to the security services - delivered an urgent statement to the government during a session of the Egyptian Parliament yesterday, Saturday, in which he demanded to postpone the expected increase in electricity prices in conjunction with the beginning of the current fiscal year.

In his statement, Bakri stressed that the difficult conditions and external repercussions greatly affected the citizens who suffer the most, calling for the containment of the street "because it is boiling," noting that the global situation affected all classes, and that public opinion was provoked by the increase in electricity prices.

The Egyptian media demanded the intervention of the President of the Republic to postpone the increase in electricity prices for the next fiscal year and reduce them, especially in light of the suffering of citizens, warning by saying, "We are sounding an alarm for the government to take into account the people, because the risks are great and we should not wait for problems to occur."

anger and ridicule

The opinions of the pioneers of social networking sites in Egypt varied about Adib and Bakri's statements, and some mocked the duo's position, which might make them closer to the opposition than the regime.

(An anti-regime channel broadcasts from outside the country).

Some attacked Adeeb and Bakri, claiming that they spread rumors and spread panic among citizens, and demanded the prosecution of anyone who incites citizens' fear. One of them claimed that Adeeb's words about the impact of raising the price of the customs dollar are severely exaggerated, and will not affect the basic goods provided by the government.

A survey of the "Standard & Poor's Global" index of purchasing managers in Egypt showed today, Sunday, that the activity of the non-oil private sector in Egypt contracted for the 18th month last May, as the Ukrainian crisis, import restrictions and the depreciation of the pound put pressure on prices.

Amr Adib: I want people to worry... Prices will go down once, two, three and four!

Your performance in these two days, I do not like it, Amr.. You are working for two days, or what?!

Why are you making us like this, Jada?!

Good morning,

Egypt is the only country in the world that reassures its people.

No one reassures you group.

Shut up, poor people.. someone can silence this bidder who eats at all tables.

He is trying to pressure the Egyptian administration to have a place close to power.

The same style with Mubarak. It is time for us to expel all these prospective bidders. #Mustafa_Bakri_Barra

It is electricity, but there is nothing in the world that is not expensive. I am afraid. The day will come when you will pay us money for the soul that we breathe. Have mercy on those on earth, have mercy on you from those in the sky
