The recall concerns cars manufactured between 2004 and 2015, the SUV models ML and GL and the minivan in the R-Class.

A total of 993,407 cars are recalled worldwide, of which about 70,000 in Germany.

The extent to which cars in Sweden are affected is not yet clear.

These are rare cases of severe corrosion in the brake servo.

In the worst case, this can mean that the connection with the brake pedal is damaged, and that the brake can then stop working during very hard braking.

Mercedes-Benz says in a comment that the work of contacting the owners of the vehicles that may be affected should begin immediately.

"Until then, we ask our customers not to drive their vehicles," the company announces.
