Queen Elizabeth II made a surprise appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace on Sunday to wave to the crowd on the last day of celebrations for her 70-year reign.

While the festivities were held on the last day of Queen Elizabeth's jubilee, the latter made an unexpected appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

Dressed in green, the 96-year-old sovereign, absent from most of the events of her platinum jubilee, went out accompanied by her heirs Princes Charles and William, with wives and children, before the British anthem "God Save" rang out. the Queen", sung by thousands of Britons. 

The queen greeted the crowd with a smile during this brief appearance, before slowly returning to the palace.

A parade to celebrate the 70 years of reign of Elizabeth II

Thousands of people had gathered in front of the palace, at the end of the parade which had put an end to four days of celebrations, for the 70 years of reign of Elizabeth II.

Ascended to the throne at age 25 in 1952, she established unrivaled longevity for a British sovereign.
