It is reported by TASS.

The meeting was attended by Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abu al-Gheith and the foreign ministers of Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

Hussein said that the formation of the contact group was dictated by the understanding of the implications of the situation in Ukraine for global energy and food security.

“In this regard, I appeal to you to look for ways to establish a dialogue in order to mitigate the growing consequences of the conflict at all levels,” he said.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in an interview with RT Arabic, said that all Arab countries take a responsible position on the situation in Ukraine and act exclusively within the framework of their national interests.

Lavrov also stressed that Russia appreciates that the Arab countries refuse to be led by the West.
