Egypt.. Prison sentences and acquittal for 22 people in the Helwan Specific Committees case

Today, Sunday, an Egyptian court issued prison sentences and acquittal for 22 people in the case known in the media as "Helwan Specific Committees".

The Criminal Court, held in Tora today, sentenced three defendants to life imprisonment, one defendant to 15 years of hard labor, 10 defendants to 10 years of hard labor, and three juveniles to five years' imprisonment for accusing them of murdering a citizen, kidnapping, detaining and torturing another in the case.

The court decided to acquittal of five people in the same case.

The Public Prosecution had charged 22 defendants with the charges of killing a citizen, kidnapping and detaining another for torturing him because of their cooperation with the security forces.
