In Spain, a famous YouTuber who uploaded a video of feeding toothpaste-stained cookies to homeless people has been punished.

According to foreign media such as Spanish media El Pais on the 1st of local time, the Spanish Supreme Court sentenced Kang Hua Ren (24), a Chinese YouTuber, to a year and three months in prison for insulting a homeless person.

They also paid 20,000 euros (about 27 million won) in compensation and ordered the YouTube account to be closed for 5 years.

Run, active on YouTube under the name of 'Reset', is a popular YouTuber with over 1.1 million subscribers. His main content is to receive and execute various challenges from subscribers.

In 2017, Ren received a request from a subscriber to play a prank on cookies with toothpaste.

So he scraped off the white cream inside the cookie with a fork, squeezed white toothpaste, and handed it to a homeless man in his 50s on a street in Barcelona with 20 euros (about 27,000 won).

The homeless man, who received the money and sweets, immediately vomited after eating the 'toothpaste cookie', and Ren recorded all these scenes on video and uploaded it to YouTube.

In the video, Ren said, "My jokes are overdone, but there are also positives.

The video was popular mainly in Spain and Latin America, and Run earned 2,180 euros (about 2.9 million won) in advertising revenue from this video alone.

However, public opinion criticized the over-the-top joke, and Ren, conscious of this, took the video down a few days later.

He later uploaded a follow-up video apologizing to his subscribers, but Ren was brought to court after being accused by the Barcelona police.

Ren argued in court, "It was just a joke. I had no intention of insulting the homeless."

The second trial accepted Ren's argument and reduced the sentence.

However, as the prosecution objected, the case went to the Supreme Court, where the Supreme Court made the same decision as in the first instance.
