Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his country is carefully continuing the work related to completing the security line on its southern border (Northern Syria) through new operations.

He pointed out that the area extending 30 kilometers deep along the southern border of Turkey is its security zone, "and we do not want anyone to disturb us there, and we are taking steps in this regard."

"We tore up the terrorist corridor to be formed on our southern borders through the operations of Euphrates Shield, Olive Branch, Spring of Peace, Spring Shield (in Syria) and Claw-al-Qafl (in Iraq)," Erdogan added.

Erdogan was speaking during his participation in a consultative meeting of the Justice and Development Party, in the capital, Ankara.

Earlier, the Turkish President announced that his country would implement its plan to establish a safe zone at a depth of 30 km in northern Syria, while the United States warned Turkey against launching a military attack in Syria.

During a previous press conference, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said, "Our great concern is that any new offensive would undermine regional stability and provide malign actors the possibility to exploit instability," adding, "It is something we oppose."

"We don't want to see anything jeopardize our efforts to keep ISIS in the box we locked them in," Blinken added.

This comes after Erdogan said - in a speech to members of the Justice and Development Party bloc in Parliament - last Wednesday, that "those who are trying to legitimize the terrorist organization PKK (PKK) and its branches under different names are only deceiving themselves."

"We are moving to a new stage in the process of establishing a 30-kilometre safe zone at our southern border. We will clean Manbij and Tal Rifaat from terrorists, and we will work step by step in other areas," he added.

"We will see who will support these legitimate security operations led by Turkey and who will try to oppose them," Erdogan added.

In response to these statements, Farhad Shami, director of the media center of the Syrian Democratic Forces - whose backbone is the Kurdish People's Protection Units - said that his forces have long been anticipating a possible battle, and added, "In the event of any attack, we will stop the war against ISIS (Islamic State)." And we will start our military measures against the Turkish invasion."
